PRESS RELEASE

ANDY PARSONS - "CITIZENS!"
NATIONAL TOUR
SPRING 2009

From BBC 2's Mock the Week & Q.I , BBC Radio 2's Parsons and Naylor's Pull-Out Sections and star of The Comedy Store's 'Cutting Edge, plus his recent BBC 1 Live at The Apollo triumph,' Andy Parsons is on the road again with his brand new show "CITIZENS!" The tour kicks off on the 30 th January at the Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot and runs until the 10 th May, where the tour ends at Epsom Playhouse. Please see below for full tour details.

In “CITIZENS!” Andy illustrates how as citizens of the world we could change it, if we really wanted to - if only we could be arsed. Andy's delivery and style are unique and his jokes are clever, substantial and beautifully crafted. And very, very funny. This is political comedy without the leaflet, satire without the lecture, ridicule without the sanctimony - all brushed with a bit of showbiz glitter. You will leave fulfilled, energised, emotionally uplifted and, maybe, a little bit giddy – provided you can be bothered to get off your arse to get there in the first place.

Andy's credentials are second to none. He was a main writer on the original Spitting Image and has performed on numerous TV shows including Saturday Live, The Stand Up Show, The Comedy Store, They think Its All Over and The Live Floor Show as well as completing nine series of the topical, satirical Radio 2 show Parsons and Naylor's Pullout Sections. Recently he has been heard as the host of The PMQ Show on Radio 5 Live and has a second series of his Radio 4 sitcom coming up The Lost WebLog of Scrooby Trevithick . He has also performed all over the world at prestigious comedy festivals in Montreal, New Zealand, Australia and Kilkenny.

“Perfectly calibrated.. the King of Political Comedy” T he Guardian

“Laugh out loud funny…manages to be utterly likeable and very funny while being Mr. Angry at the state of the world.” The Sunday Telegraph

“Terrific satirical stand-up” Independent on Sunday

“What he lacks in hair, Parsons more than makes up for in originality” The Daily Telegraph

‘Inch-perfect comedy. With certain stand-ups, you can tell within seconds that they're going to have the audience sitting up, purring in the palm of their hand. It is like this with the obscenely gifted Andy Parsons. Brilliantly lateral subversive observations on every topic of the day.'  ***** The List

“Parsons is at the peak of his powers.... smashes everything over the comedy boundary" ***** The Scotsman

“Parsons is a master social and political voice… A veritable showcase of all that's gloriously wrongheaded about the British People ***** The Herald

“Delivers a barrage of beautifully crafted jokes… - short, sharp shocks made so entertaining and agreeable that he could and should be transported immediately to mainstream TV” Time Out

WINNER 2006 Montreal Comedy Festival "The Comedy Showdown"
WINNER 2004 New Zealand Comedy Guild Best International Act
WINNER 2002 Time Out Best Comedy Award
