PRESS RELEASE
Little Red Delicious presents
WILSON DIXON RIDES AGAIN
EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL 2008
THE STAND 3
6pm (Ends 7pm)
31st July – 24th AUGUST 2008 (not 11th)
Wilson Dixon, the Country ‘n’ Western legend from Cripple Creek, Colorado is back in town. The laconic cowboy philosopher, who shines a comedy light across the absurdity of our lives, is dropping by to make you cry with laughter once more.
Wilson Dixon Rides Again finds Wilson returning home after 2 years touring on the road to find his life has been turned upside down by desertion and single fatherhood; thus creating a new soundtrack of his world. Surrounded by heartbreak, tragedy and confusion, Wilson does the only thing Wilson can, picks up his guitar and speaks to us through the language he knows best – country music.
He looks back to simpler times, a time of the old west where heroes were heroes, good raged against evil and the natural order prevailed. The rangy cowboy emerges a wiser man (though still not wise enough to buy the right size shirt) and a new album is born.
Wilson Dixon is the creation of award winning comedian, actor and founding member of acclaimed comedy trio The 4 Noels, Jesse Griffin. Since his creation Wilson Dixon has been expanding his cult status, performing extensively around Australia and New Zealand as well as headlining around the UK comedy circuit and has been seen on The World Stands Up (Paramount), Spicks and Specks (ABC) and the New Zealand Comedy Festival Gala (TV2 Network).
2008 has seen Wilson Dixon embark on an 8 month season on the UK based comedy circuit that has included support for 41st best stand-up Stewart Lee.
Jesse’s other acting credits include Laurie in Peter Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures and Chich in the drama/comedy series Last Man Standing (Aus, NZ, UK and Israel). As a member of the 4 Noels, he has won best comedy award at Melbourne and Wellington Fringe festivals and has been nominated twice for the prestigious Barry Award at Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
“Packs more laughs into the allotted time than one would think possible for a country and western singer in a cowboy hat, shades and very, very tight shirt.” The Guardian Guide
