PRESS RELEASE
Phil McIntyre Entertainment by arrangement with Vivienne Smith Management presents
ED BYRNE – DIFFERENT CLASS
EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL 2008
ASSEMBLY at ASSEMBLY HALL
10.20pm (Ends 11.20pm)
31st July – 25th AUGUST 2008 (not 5th or 12th)
The biggest and fastest selling ticket of the Fringe in 2006 (the last time he was there), Irish favourite Ed Byrne returns to Edinburgh with his brand new show, Different Class, ahead of a five week residency at the Riverside Studios in London and then a large national tour throughout the autumn.
Half Toff, Half Pikey….. All Comic
Different Class examines Ed’s inability to fit in, whether it be with the youth of today, the old, the middle class or the working class. Steadily turning into a grumpy middle aged man Ed touches on all things that exasperate him including his recent marriage, class and all its divisions, the young and their ways and anything else that strikes him as humorous.
Ed has been busy since his last appearance on the fringe in 2006. He has toured the UK with his sell out show Standing Up and Falling Down and has taken the show around Australia and New Zealand as well. He has been a consistently regular panelist on BBC 2’s Mock the Week and has recently been seen again on Have I Got News for You and the Graham Norton Show. Ed has a radio 2 sitcom in the pipeline due for broadcast in the autumn and is also writing a book about climbing the Scottish Munroes.
“his wit won deafening cheers and feet stomping.” The Guardian
“You just stand up and cheer with everybody else” The Independent
“It is rare for comedy to merit the word "masterful" but in this case it's no overstatement.... in complete rapport with his capacity audience” The Scotsman
