PRESS RELEASE

THE ALTITUDE FESTIVAL
MERIBEL, FRANCE
5th – 20th APRIL 2008
INTERNATIONAL COMICS, DJ’s and BANDS
IN THE ALPS
Combining his love of both comedy and snowboarding Marcus Brigstocke is delighted to announce the inaugural Altitude Festival due to take place between the 5th and 21st April 2008.
The very first comedy festival of its kind it will take place in fabulous skiers paradise that is Les trois vallees – the largest skiing area in the world - right in the heart of the French alps, (predominantly Meribel but also in Val Thorens and Courcheval), this is a fantastic fusion of some of the best UK, French and international comics performing every evening, stellar DJ’s and fabulous established and up and coming bands - this is the one festival of the season that truly shouldn’t be missed.
Some of the acts scheduled to take part include Phill Jupitus, Rich Hall, Marcus Brigstocke, Ed Byrne, Andrew Maxwell, if.comedy winner Brendon Burns, DJ’s including Norman Jay, Brandon Block, Joey Negro, Hed Kandi and The Ministry of Sound and bands include Ugly Duckling and Grand National.
If this isn’t enough, you will be able to ski all day in beautiful warm spring conditions, often catch an acoustic gig up a mountain or in a gondola, catch a comedy film, ski down at the end of the day right into the main stage area, or indeed watch or take part in some of the most exciting SnowSports events of the season. Coinciding with the festival will be the The British Ski Championships, to be held in Meribel and Boarder X and Big Air competitions which are sure to attract board pros from around the world as well as more relaxed snow competitions including three legged ski races, snowball fights and expression sessions.
The festival is also very aware of the environmental impact skiing has so it aims to be the first carbon neutral festival. All of Meribel’s ski lifts are powered hydro electrically and for every ticket sold 2 Euro will be donated to WWF (World Wildlife Fund). People are being encouraged to travel to the festival by train. The nearest station to Meribel is Brides des Bains and is about twenty minutes in a cable car or taxi away from the resort.
