CKP presents

MICKY FLANAGAN –
WHAT CHANCE CHANGE?

EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL 2007
PLEASANCE COURTYARD - CELLAR
9.45pm (Ends 10.45pm)
1st – 26th AUGUST 2007 (not 13th)

One of the best comics in the UK, oldest newcomer in town, Micky Flanagan makes his greatly anticipated Edinburgh Fringe debut this year to much excitement. He will be performing at the Pleasance Cellar with a show that is certain not to be missed.

What Chance Change? is the story about Micky’s life and the journey he’s taken from the mean streets of the East End to the leafy lanes of East Dulwich. It’s 1980: Micky feels trapped and angry, working as a porter in Billingsgate fish market, living in the East End. It's now 2007: Micky is slightly upset at the cost of a latte, working as a stand-up comic and living in pretentious East Dulwich. Over twenty five years he's gone from Sunblest to pannini, tabloids to broadsheets, the street party to the dinner party. Travel, countless jobs, a belated higher education, and women have all played their part. Join him on the journey...

A professional stand-up since 1997, Micky Flanagan draws on his East End background as he ruthlessly deconstructs the Cockney myth with razor-sharp observational wit. He tells a comic tale of a working class upbringing, where alphabetti spaghetti is a luxury and a bottle of black tower the height of sophistication.

Micky's unique brand of intelligent humour appeals to men and women equally, as he bemoans the lot of modern man in pursuit of the perfect idle day, and celebrates being turned away from a night club because his feet are killing him.

"Micky’s take on his working-class East End background is side-splitting... The rising star Micky Flanagan" - Stephen Armstrong, The Sunday Times

"Astonishingly good - a cockney extraordinaire and cracking stand-up." - Time Out

Micky Flanagan was the highlight of the evening. He told the tales with animation and style. He was confident, assured and the audience was with him all the way. Micky Flanagan was the funniest man on the floor.” - BBC.co.uk

"The charming Micky Flanagan is very confident and even enigmatic, he uses pace and silence with skill and has a strong physicality." - The Stage

"Micky is the very embodiment of the cheeky, chirpy Cockney, and his chatty, effervescent delivery engages the most reticent of rooms. The infectious energy is also heightened by his exaggerated, almost camp, reactions. It all makes for a rambunctious set that's sometimes rude, sometimes thoughtful, but rarely short of hilarious." - Chortle.co.uk
