PRESS RELEASE
Chambers Management presents
ANDREW LAWRENCE
SOCIAL LEPROSY FOR
BEGINNERS & IMPROVERS
EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL 2007
PLEASANCE COURTYARD - BESIDE
8.40pm (Ends 9.35pm)
1st – 26th AUGUST 2007 (not 13th)
Andrew Lawrence, If.Comeddie Best Newcomer Nominee 2006, returns to the Edinburgh Fringe with a brand new show: “Social Leprosy for Beginners and Improvers” containing some outlandishly entertaining meditations on the joy of unpopularity.
The last twelve months have been fantastic for Andrew. After the success of last years Edinburgh show How to Butcher Your Loved Ones which gained him an If.Comeddie nomination he then completed a sell out run of the show at London’s prestigious Soho Theatre. Following on from this Andrew has been seen on a number of TV shows, including Comedy Cuts (ITV) Comedy Shuffle (BBC 3), Space Hopper (BBC 3), The World Stands Up (Paramount) and the part of Marco in Ideal (the highly acclaimed sitcom on BBC 3) He is currently presenting Shipwrecked a 20 part series for Channel 4 Radio – a spin off from the C4 series.
Andrew has received rave recognition in all the key new act competitions and is now a regular favourite on the comedy circuit, gigging at all the major clubs across the country and building a base of discerning fans addicted to the bleakly dark comic world he creates.
With his flawless timing and delivery he can induce tears of laughter from audience members almost against their will.
“Andrew Lawrence has to be seen to be believed…formidably funny” Time Out
"Lawrence stands out as a different breed of comedian” Edinburgh Evening News
“A compelling performance” The Guardian
“Homicidal musings have never seemed so appealing!” The List
“Lawrence is so thorough in assuming his character, that he often comes across as a young man who really does kill the thing he loves then feasts on the gooeyness inside, singing a tune about it as some kind of terrible yet touchingly inevitable catharsis. His victims’ losses are truly comedy’s gain” Scotsman
“The wonderfully articulate, breakneck prose through which he delivers his punch lines is as spellbinding as it is nasty…if you haven’t seen Andrew Lawrence yet, then make time to do so. If you’ve not heard of him, don’t worry – you will. From the moment he graced the limelight, Andrew Lawrence owned the stage…absolutely brilliant stuff” BBC
“An Assured Superlative debut” ***** Metro
