NATIONAL TOUR
AUTUMN 2007
After another fantastic sold out run at the Edinburgh Fringe this summer, Adam Hills is taking his smash hit show Joymonger to the road. The tour starts on the 18th September at the Gala Theatre in Durham and continues until 18th November where the tour draws to a close in Shrewsbury at the Music Hall.
In a world of hatemonger’s, scaremongers and fishmongers, one man chooses to monger joy.
Like a blast of Australian sunshine Adam Hills sparkles into places and brings a big load of delight and happiness into a city. Not for Adam the angst or anger of some comedians, just good jokes, cracking stories and effortless audience interaction all brought with the biggest smile in town.
This is Adam’s fourth national tour of the UK. Catch the triple Perrier nominated comic before he heads off home to Australia for the winter. His live shows are consistently sold out, acclaimed by critics and the public alike and genuinely liked by his peers he is undoubtedly one of the most popular men in the business.
Joymonger has already been seen by over 13,000 people in Edinburgh at the fringe and 25,000 people in Australia, where Adam has become a TV star in his own right as the host of ABC TV’s music quiz show “Spicks and Specks”. Earlier this year Joymonger won a Helpmann Award for best comedy performance in Australia. These extremely prestigious awards are given for excellence in theatre. Unfortunately Adam was in Edinburgh for the awards ceremony. Unable to collect his award in person he his mum to collect it on his behalf who apparently turned in a sterling performance! Adam is a regular TV face in the UK too having made appearances on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Mock the Week, Charlotte Church’s Chat Show, The BBC Stand Up Show and The World Comedy Tour which also screened in Australia, USA and Canada. Back home Adam has been seen on Rove Live, The Glasshouse and Good News Week and was a team captain on Campaign for thecomedychannel.
Radio wise, Adam was the host of Four at the Store for Radio 4, and co-wrote and co-performed we Say Tomay-to, a six-part topical comedy series for Radio 2. He has also appeared on Radio 4's Loose Ends, and is a regular guest on BBC Scotland's Fred Macaulay Show.
