PRESS RELEASE

Off the Kerb Productions present
MARCUS BRIGSTOCKE – PLANET CORDUROY 2006
UK TOUR 2006

SEPTEMBER – DECEMBER 2006
SPECIAL GUEST – CARRIE QUINLAN

Following a totally sold out run with a live version of his highly successful award winning TV show The Late Edition, at the Edinburgh Festival, Marcus Brigstocke the award winning stand up comedian from Television's We Are History, The Savages, and Have I Got News For You and BBC Radio 4's The Now Show, Think The Unthinkable and The Museum Of Everything and smash hit British comedy movie Love Actually, is on tour this autumn performing his topical show - Planet Corduroy around the country.  The tour begins in Oxford on September the 11th and continues through to Colchester on the 16th December.

Marcus is the king of satirical comedy.  There’s not much that hasn't come under his satirical gaze with blisteringly funny results - The War on Terror, MMR, Loans Companies, The Special Relationship, The Arms Trade, Immigration, Compensation, Women’s Magazines, The EU and David Blaine, not to mention his own personal battle with his middle class angst as well.   Not surprisingly he now has rather a lot to say, hence the return to one man and his mike, and his invitation to join him on Planet Corduroy where all of the above can be finally laid to rest.

As well as for the last two years hosting The Late Edition, Marcus’s TV appearances are numerous and most recently he could be seen in BBC 2’s Excuse My French alongside Esther Rantzhan and Ron Atkinson, learning French with often hilarious results.  Other recent TV appearances include Live from the Apollo (with Jack Dee), Have I Got News For You, and King Stupid for CBBC.  He also played the lead character in BBC3's Vacant Possession, one of the Twisted Tales series.

After more than two years as the 'angry young man' on the BBC Radio 4's The Now Show, Marcus is regularly heard in the 6.30pm slot on Radio 4. He has written and recorded three series of Giles Wemmbley-Hogg Goes Off (Series one - now available on BBC CD) and is a regular on Just a Minute, Newsquiz, The Today Program, and the wonderfully silly 99p Challenge.

Marcus’s film credits include Love Actually, Beyond The Sea and the forthcoming Piccadilly Jim

Marcus lives in South London, happily married to his university sweetheart, and may well be the proudest dad in the world.  He is committed to non-violence and is an active campaigner for CND and 'Campaign Against Arms Trade'.  He once had a #11 chart smash with DJ Dee-Kline's, Don't Smoke Da Reefa.  It is worth saying that Marcus very briefly worked as a podium dancer, and also on an oilrig in the North Sea (although not as a dancer).  He is fanatical about snowboarding - so much so he has set up a stand up tour in the Alps - and adores music and movies.

Marcus will be joined on this tour by up and comic comedy star Carrie Quinlan.  Carrie was runner up in both So You Think You’re Funny and the BBC New Comedy Awards.  Carrie has worked with Catherine Tate and has made many appearances on The Late Edition.

“Dazzling, Inspired, perfectly observed.  I’ve yet to see anything funnier” The Daily Telegraph

“Planet Corduroy has to be his most outstanding achievement so far.  This is corduroy with cutting edge.”  Malcolm Hay, Time Out
