PARAMOUNT COMEDY FESTIVAL, BRIGHTON
4th – 21st OCTOBER 2006

The Goodies, Russell Brand, Ross Noble, Jimmy Carr, Paul Merton, Alan Carr, Marcus Brigstocke, and Rich Hall, some of the biggest hitters of the comedy world are coming to the seaside. Now in its fifth fantastic year the Paramount Comedy Festival has quickly established itself as Britain’s biggest and brightest pure comedy festival. Combining the beautiful city of Brighton and the finest comedy talent in the land, there is nowhere else to be during October.
Kicking off on the 4th October with the smash hit of The Edinburgh Fringe, The Goodies, it’s nearly three solid weeks of comedy to tickle your fancy with something for everyone, all taking place within the beautiful splendour of various venues within the Brighton Dome. As well as the comedy heavyweights there are some of the hottest up and coming stars of the comedy scene on offer. 2006 if.comeddies award winner from the Edinburgh Fringe, Phil Nichol will be bringing his award winning show The Naked Racist to the festival and other nominees from this year sketch group We Are Klang and stand-up Russell Howard, will be in Brighton. Catch them here while you can. Past Perrier winners and nominees are in abundance at the festival and include Jeremy Hardy, Adam Hills, Jeff Green, Boothby Graffoe, Daniel Kitson, Sarah Kendall, Jason Byrne, Mark Watson, Reginald D Hunter and Tim Minchin.
A fantastic selection of female comics are on offer this year including Sue Perkins in the follow up to her debut last year, delightful Lucy Porter, Rebecca Carrington and her cello, bitchy air hostess Pam Ann, as well as the Funny Women show, a collection of the finest female stand ups at the moment and Grumpy Old Women starring Dillie Keane, Linda Robson and ?????????.
Ireland, Scotland and Wales are all represented with festival favourites Jason Byrne, Danny Bhoy and Rhod Gilbert. Still not seen enough? Well how about TV’s Four Poofs and A Piano (Jonathan Ross chat show), Mark Thomas, Andy Parsons and Frankie Boyle (Mock The Week), Simon Amstell (Popworld) and Channel 4’s King of Comedy Andrew Maxwell.
Musical Acts are at the festival this year with the fantastic Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain and John Hegley giving us his delightful mix of poetry and songs. Join comedy hero’s Clive James, Ned Sherrin and Howard Marks for their unique look at life.
All this and still more Alun Cochrane, Brendon Burns, Will Smith, Richard Herring, Stephen K Amos, Chris Neill and Robin Ince ensure that you will be guaranteed laughs whoever you choose to see.
